I have been where you are… and that is how this whole journey began.

When I was pregnant with my first child I read all the books, all the guides, I went to all the classes, and I listened carefully to anyone offering baby advice. After giving birth I tried to apply all of the knowledge I had learned – some of it worked, some of it didn't. One huge enigma to me was her sleep.

I thought to myself, "I'm smart, I can figure this out". I also thought, "I can manage and push through these sleepless nights – it will get better". I had pulled all-nighters before in college when studying for exams or trying to find the next wine bar. But the sleepless nights and rough days began to compound and start impacting all areas of my life.

So now, on top of having a new baby, I was not sleeping at all, I was totally exhausted, and I felt like a total failure. I reread some of the sleep books and guides. I watched the videos again. Nothing was helping. Nothing was working. It seemed like no book or guide understood who MY baby was.

I started crafting my own "sleep plan" for my daughter and incorporated pieces of various books that I felt made sense. I also integrated advice I heard that resonated with me, as well as my intuition to tailor things specifically for my daughter. I created a plan that worked. It worked really well. She started sleeping, I started sleeping, my husband started sleeping. I started feeling like a human again. My life overall started improving. It was glorious.

My son was born soon after that. I tried to apply the same strategies again. It didn't work. WTF!?

It was at that point I truly understood that each and every baby was different with regards to sleep.

My son was also a bad sleeper, but a different type of sleeper than my daughter. Things that worked for her did not work for him. I went back to the drawing board and created a plan just for my son, his disposition, and his specific sleep challenges. It worked.

I began helping friends with their babies, and then friends of friends. I started to realize that this is an area that parents/caregivers needed help with. My business background kicked in and a small business was born.

I officially opened Mind Body Family, LLC (now known as Baby Sleep Solved) in 2011 and have been helping families ever since. I am passionate about helping people improve their children's sleep because I know what an impact it had on my own life once my children started sleeping better.  Having babies and raising children is a journey filled with highs, lows, and everything in between. Let's embrace that journey with a well-rested brain and body.
